The Self-Generation Incentive Program (SGIP) offers California residents rebates for installing energy storage systems, such as battery storage. SGIP aims to increase energy resilience and reduce reliance on fossil fuels by offering financial incentives that can cover up to 100% of storage system costs, depending on eligibility.
Homeowners, renters, and those in disadvantaged communities may qualify for different rebate levels. The program encourages sustainability and energy independence across the state.
Commercial SGIP
The Self-Generation Incentive Program (SGIP) also offers financial incentives for commercial clients in California to install energy storage systems. These systems allow businesses to store energy from solar panels or the electric grid, providing backup power during outages.
Non-residential customers of PG&E, SCE, SoCalGas, or SDG&E are eligible for rebates, which can cover 35% of system costs. Additional higher rebates are available for facilities located in disadvantaged communities or those at risk of Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS), potentially covering up to 100% of installation costs.
